Politics and Culture

While we acknowledge that the only hope for mankind is Jesus Christ, and only a relationship with Him and submission to a holy God will fix our decaying culture, we also recognize the tremendous responsibility that falls on us because we have been placed in a country with a political structure that allows us to elect people into office who will reflect our values.

That being said, God is not a Republican or a Democrat. However, we at The Wesleyan Resistance believe that if a single political party’s leaders intentionally remove God from the party’s platform and legislatively promote immoral behaviors – such as killing unborn children and sexual promiscuity and deviance – and seek to promote laws that limit religious freedom, that party should not be supported by holiness-seeking and holiness-promoting Christians. We endorse a conservative agenda, which upholds our Constitution, affirms religious freedom and freedom of speech, and seeks to hold on to traditional standards of morality through the legislative process.

A Statement Worth Signing: An Exposé on the Progressive Agenda Infiltrating Today’s Church

The entirety of the article below has been reprinted with permission from the American Association of Evangelicals website. I copied it and relinked all the links because I didn't want you to have to scroll and search to find it, even though it's worth the effort. The resources provided within this article will give you a crash course on the Leftist agenda that is threatening the church – an agenda this is being endorsed (or at least tolerated) by many pastors today who proudly proclaim their disdain for evangelicalism and conservatism. Let's be clear: "Social Justice" is not the...

2019 March for Life: Do Evangelicals Care About the Preborn or the Women Who Abort Them?

I am not an activist. Before this past Friday, I had never attended a public protest or rally for any specific issue (even those I care about deeply). I did attend (unenthusiastically) a Mitt Romney rally once when he was running for president, but that's the extent of my public activism, save this website. To my shame, during my 30 years of pastoral ministry, I rarely encouraged my congregation to publicly oppose abortion. I don't recall having preached a sermon solely on the right to life. Oh, sure, I added a "Right to Life" insert to the bulletin on the third...

In the Spirit of John Witherspoon: Wesleyan Pastor Answers Call to Influence the Entire Country – and World – for Generations to Come

From Our Nation's Founding Scottish Presbyterian minister and 26-year president of what would later become Princeton University, John Witherspoon was the only clergyman to sign the Declaration of Independence. Never heard of him? Me, neither, until I recently visited America's Founding Fathers Exhibit in Rapid City, South Dakota. "As possibly the best-known clergyman in America at the time, he did much to set the moral and spiritual tone for the new nation, emphasizing that religious liberty does not mean America should be religion-free, and that piety and morality are essential to the stability and strength of the nation." 1 "Under his tutelage would be...

Is Capitalism Really Anti-Biblical? – You might think so if you listen to the Christian Left

To hear some of our contemporary preachers and leaders in the church, you would think that the Bible directly condemns capitalism. Or money of any sort. Some of these men and women are "thinkers" who have spent time considering the real differences between capitalism and socialism and have determined the latter to be more congruent with their version of Christianity. But many pastors and Christians are simply mimicking what they hear from the "Christian Left," accepting their mantra that it is impossible to "love your neighbor" and be a capitalist at the same time. They have allowed very vocal...

Methodist Church Upholds Authority of Scripture – What Are the Lessons for Holiness Churches?

The global United Methodist Church held what was touted as a historic special session of General Conference February 23-26. The conference had been called to deal with the church's position on issues of homosexuality and same-sex marriage. The topics are nothing new. The church has been fighting an inward battle for decades as more and more clergy have chosen to openly defy the teachings of the church, to the point of appointing an openly gay bishop, ordaining homosexual ministers, and performing same-sex weddings – all without discipline from the greater church (or, more accurately, largely ignoring any discipline). While I...

URGENT: Wesleyan Church on Verge of Compromise with LGBTQ Agenda

Your urgent prayers and actions are needed immediately. Please read the email from Dr. Everett Piper (president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University) below and the accompanying documents and pass this article on to pastors and godly Christians in your network. Let there be no mistake: this is a pivotal moment. If we compromise with sin at this time, there will be no going back. We need to RESIST this blatant attempt to disavow the truths of the Bible and the message of holiness. It's time to take a stand and let your pastor, your church, your district superintendent and board...
