Some parents take solace in Proverbs 22:6 –”Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” – throwing up their hands and just hoping it will all turn out OK in the end. They miss the whole point. If we train our children and disciple them intentionally, even when they get old, those principles will remain in them, and they won’t depart from them. It’s not enough to simply take them to church and Sunday School or kids’ club. It takes more than just saying “grace” before meals or leading them in bedtime prayers.
This 82-page ebook, “Building a Household of Faith: A 40-Day Journal for Family Renewal,” takes you on a reflective journey to understand how God created the family and what He expects from parents. It guides you step-by-step through a process of determining how to protect your family from ungodly influences and how to create an environment where a relationship with Christ is lived out in front of your children and Christian values are intentionally instilled in them.
This journal was originally published by The Wesleyan Church’s Department of Evangelism and Church Growth in 1991 for their first church-wide 40 days of prayer and fasting for Lent. They passed the copyright ownership back to author Patty David in 2004. She has reformatted it and made it a fillable PDF (so you can type answers right into the document) specifically for this membership site.
