PODCAST SERIES: Finishing Well

An elderly woman lost in thought

Colossians 1:22-24 (NIV)
“But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.”

Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
“…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

None of us knows how long we have on this earth. But one thing is for sure – we want to finish well. We recognize that the life of following Christ isn’t just about getting a good start; it’s about not wavering and about following Christ with just as much fervor and commitment at the end as you had at the beginning. The Bible provides some powerful examples for us: men like Caleb, Paul, and Jesus. And it provides a warning through the life of Solomon.

This podcast series highlights the importance of finishing well – staying true to God and engaged in His mission until your dying breath. Christians live well and die well, and your life can be a powerful witness regardless of your age or the number of years or days or hours you have left (in your current position or in life itself).

My husband Dan David (also an ordained minister in The Wesleyan Church) and I shared this series of messages at our church in Florida several years ago. We’ve chosen to share these messages with you now because we believe God’s message is unchanging, regardless of how much culture has changed. The principles we discuss are just as prevalent today as ever, and living them out is critical for leaving a lasting legacy.
