Wesleyan Pastor Jim Garlow Is Making a Difference Around the World

Skyline Lead Pastor Dr. Jim Garlow is on a mission to change the world. And he’s a Wesleyan. One of our own. I’ve committed to sharing his press releases here at The Wesleyan Resistance so you will all be updated on his ministry.

I’m reminded of Joseph in the book of Genesis who found himself second to Pharaoh, God’s hand of grace to His people in Egypt. Or Daniel, who advanced in the political arena in Persia when Israel was in exile. Or Esther, who was put into a position of influence “for such a time as this.” How exciting to see that God is putting evangelical ministers – and a fellow Wesleyan – in a position to influence the kings of the earth.

Here is the full press release followed by some of my suggestions.

Evangelical Delegation Makes Historic Trip to Meet with Egyptian President and King of Jordan

Pastor Jim Garlow of Skyline Church in San Diego, CA was part of a 12-member delegation of American Evangelicals in early November to meet with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt and King Abdullah II of Jordan. It was Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s first-ever meeting with a delegation of Evangelical leaders at the Presidential Palace – truly a historic moment.

The delegation’s purpose was to advance peace and to hear how these Muslim nations are caring for refugees, fighting radicalism and protecting Christians in the Middle East (ALR).

The delegation’s meeting with the Egyptian President was scheduled to last one hour but didn’t end for almost three hours. He stressed his commitment to eliminating terrorism in the region and advancing religious freedom.

Other notable leaders the delegation met with in Egypt include Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Protestant Church of Egypt, and Chief of Egyptian Intelligence, General Khalid Fawzi.

Pastor Garlow then traveled with the delegation to Amman Jordan to meet with His Majesty King Abdullah II.

In their meeting, the evangelical delegation thanked King Abdullah for his great efforts advancing security in Jordan and for the King’s incredible compassion aiding the suffering.

The delegation visited the Zaatari Refugee Camp, which provides housing to over 80,000 Syrian families.

Executive Director of Skyline Church’s ministries at the United Nations, former Congresswomen Michele Bachmann, was also part of the private delegation. Bachmann said, “King Abdullah and President el-Sisi are to be applauded for exemplifying moderation and stability in a neighborhood scarred by intolerance and war.”

A unique bridge of friendship was formed between the King and members of the evangelical delegation. The subject of faith was central in their meetings.

Other notable Jordan leaders in the meetings included His Royal Highness Prince Hassan, Senior military officials of Jordan’s Central Command headquarters, Chairman of the Joint Chief-of-Staff Lt. General Mahmoud Freihat, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and leaders of the Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary.

So, what should you do with this information?

What’s next for Dr. Jim Garlow?

According to Dr. Garlow, as part of our President’s faith advisory board, he is traveling to Egypt, Jordan, and Guatemala over the next couple months. He’s leaving in a couple days to meet with Netanyahu in Israel, and then he’s traveling to Chile, Brazil, and Honduras. This is an incredible schedule to keep – and an unprecedented opportunity to influence the world. Keep him and his church back home in California in your prayers. Pray for wisdom, discernment, and softened hearts.
